Transport Insurance

 

Transport insurance covers two categories: transport itself, contracted by the seller or buyer of the cargo and civil liability, contracted by the carrier. The first is divided into national transport (domestic market) and international transport (export and import). The second category, of civil liability, in turn, has several types of insurance that guarantee the carrier reimbursement of indemnities that he is obliged to pay to repair damage to the cargo he was carrying. Both in national and international transport, the insurance covers damages caused to goods and merchandise on trips over water, land (road and rail) and air, or on routes that use more than one means of transport, called multimodal.

* What is SUSEP?

Created by Decree-Law No. 73, of November 21, 1966, SUSEP (Superintendence of Private Insurance) is the body responsible for the control and inspection of the insurance, open private pension, capitalization and reinsurance markets and is linked to the Ministry of Finance .

Its real objective is to act in the regularization, supervision and incentive of insurance activities, in an agile, efficient, practical and transparent way, protecting the rights of consumers and the interests of society in general.
